Remembering Dr Erica Brasil

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden death of our dear friend and colleague Dr Erica Brasil. Erica was Assistant Professor in Portuguese and co-ordinator of the Portuguese language programme in the section of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS) in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. Erica had been at the heart of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies in Nottingham for over 21 years, during which time she taught countless undergraduate students, helping to inculcate in them a love for all things Portuguese and Brazilian. She served the University on high-level international delegations to Latin America and, more recently, as part of the Year Abroad team charged with placing Nottingham students all around the globe. She was also an active member of Nottingham’s Brazilian community.
