Biography

Matt Owen completed a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Leicester in 2018, followed by an MSc in Applied Computation and Numerical Modelling from the University of Leicester in 2019. He then began a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Nottingham, supervised by Prof. John King, which he submitted in 2023. He currently works as a Research Associate at the University of Nottingham under Prof. Gary Mirams.

Expertise Summary

His expertise lies in Mathematical Biology and applications of mathematical modelling to cardiovascular sciences, including simulating blood flow, modelling blood clotting through chemical kinetic models, and modelling ion channels in cardiac cells.

Research Summary

His current research is in modelling ion channels in cardiac cells and in the applicability of these models to drug development.
