County Community PLT Discussion Area

Hello and welcome to the Combined County Community Virtual Practice Learning team area. This team covers a large geographical area throughout Derbyshire serving a diverse and unique patient population.

All community staff are welcome to contribute to the discussion and I would welcome the addition of essential news items to aid to this site. It is not intended that this site will replace face to face contact but it is an additional resource to help students and mentors get the most out of practical placements.

For the latest news from your PLT please follow the news link below. I would really like to promote team debate using the discussion area below, so please remember to scroll down and post your comments, questions and opinions. I will always get back to you and may post links to resources currently available on the main practice learning site. Your opinion and experience is extremely valuable please feel free to share it. If you are able to offer help and advice to colleague you can do this by contributing to the discussion area.

I look forward to hearing from you and working as part of this team.

Chris

I have a questions about the Ongoing achievement record. How many pieces of evidence is a student expected to present for each competency?

Hello Joe, It is down to the mentor to decide how much evidence is acceptable as the mentor needs to ensure that the student has achieved their competency consistency in a variety ways

I am currently a sign off mentor. However last attended a mentor update 2 years ago and have been sent something about a triennial review. Do I need to do anything?

Hello Jane, Yes every mentor needs a yearly update one of which must be face to face. You need to contact your Placement Learning Support Unit who will bel able to advise when the next training days are happening. In terms of the triennial review all mentors had have a triennial review with their trust manager every 3 years. To reach the requirements of the triennial review you must mentor two students in three years, have an annual mentor update and complete the triennial review.
