Biography

Kirstie joined the University of Nottingham in 2006 and is currently on secondment with University of Nottingham Online as Head of Content (Partnerships) working in new team to design and develop University of Nottingham Online micro-credentials for a range of subject areas.

Her host role is Digital Learning Manager within the Health E-Learning and Media (HELM) Team at the University's School of Health Sciences (as of January 2014) where she worked closely with the Division of Midwifery developing digital and e-learning for the School, including working with Moodle, ExamSys, MS Teams and also recording and editing multimedia resources, some of which are available worldwide through a Midwifery YouTube Channel.

Prior to this, Kirstie led and worked for the Centre for International ePortfolio Development in Libraries, Research and Learning Resources delivering various projects focusing on the development and implementation of data standards for interoperability (Leap2A, XCRI-CAP) and ecosystems to underpin lifelong learning, progression and employability. Kirstie is experienced in using and implementing e-portfolios, having led institutional implementation at Nottingham (see the case study here) and also co-authored the Lifelong Learning Network 'ePortfolios and Lifelong Learners' publication which reported on regional e-portfolio use.

Following a degree in Philosophy at the University of Nottingham, Kirstie worked in IT recruitment then spent 8 years in the Further Education sector as a Webmaster and manager of a multimedia team developing and designing IT and e-learning systems/applications for education. She is also a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner with an interest in partnership building, business analysis and using technology strategically and creatively.

Kirstie is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is on the review board for the International Journal for E-Portfolio (IJEP) and Nurse Education in Practice.

Technical skills include web and database applications in Web .NET, XML and SQL Server with experience in PHP and mySQL, video shooting and editing, Adobe Creative Suite.
