Secure electronic delivery of Interlibrary loan articles

Getting your document

You will receive an email from the British Library with a link to a document. Register for 'On Demand' if you haven't already done so.

  1. Click the link to your document in the email                                             
  2. Choose 'Register for On Demand
  3. Follow 'Don't have a British Library online account yet?' and click 'Register'
  4. Complete the registration form
  5. You will receive an email asking you to 'Activate your account' - follow the instructions and wait for a confirmation email. 
  6. Go back to your original email containing the link to your document, open it using your 'On Demand' username and password and print the document.
  7. Most documents are saved within your British Library account and can be accessed for up to three years.
 

 

Troubleshooting

You will need Adobe Reader 10 or later installed on your device

If you have problems printing or viewing your document please ensure you visit the 'Edit' menu, then 'Preferences'> 'General'> and uncheck 'Enable protected mode at startup'

If you are using Google Chrome as your browser you will need to go to chrome://settings/content, scroll down to PDF Documents and enable "Download PDF files rather than automatically opening them in chrome." Alternatively you could use a different browser such as IE or firefox.

Please note the following copyright regulations

  • The document will be available to download for 30 days only. You will receive a reminder when your document is about to expire.
  • You may download and print the document only once and you are advised to print the document as soon as you have activated the link.  Please note that you cannot currently print from laptops in the library.
  • Articles will be supplied subject to the usual UK copyright restrictions.

The benefits of DRM Lite

  • Files can be downloaded to a variety of desktop and mobile devices
  • Once downloaded, files can be accessed for up to three years
  • There is no need to install third party software
