Workshop: Testimony; Aesthetic and Otherwise

The workshop aims to address the debate over the value of testimony in aesthetics as well as the relationship between this debate and broader issues in epistemology and elsewhere.

Reality Making: Exploring Fundamentals in Metaphysics

Date: 10 - 12 July 2012

This conference will focus on recent debates in metaphysics surrounding questions of grounding, fundamentality, essentialism and the monism vs pluralism debate.

Ethics and Explanation

This conference was the opening event in a larger research project into the nature of ethics and explanation, and brought together meta-ethicists, normative ethicists and philosophers of science.

In collaboration with the Leeds Art Gallery, the AHRC funded project "Method in Philosophical Aesthetics: the challenge from the sciences" will be hosting a major public event on the relationship between science, art and religion on the evening of the 27th of June 2012.

An international conference in association with the University of Leeds, the University of Nottingham and the Royal Institute of Philosophy. The conference will involve speakers with a variety of perspectives, ranging from those with a good deal of enthusiasm for "empirical philosophy" to those more inclined to favour traditional, a priori approaches.
