About the School
Nottingham’s School of Politics and International Relations is one of the best in the country.
We are equally proud of our excellent teaching reputation, as we are of our superb research output . We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as top quality PhD supervision.
We’re a diverse, research-led, School, which integrates research and teaching at every level. We organise our research around six Centres and Institutes, covering almost all aspects of contemporary politics, and publishing regularly in the very best journals and with the top publishers.
We’re also very proud of our very active student Politics Society, who play a full role in the life of the School, and who have made this video about their work.
More information about all of this is available from our website. I hope you can find what you need here; but if not, please just contact us and we’ll try to help.

The Politics Society is a large, politically-neutral society dedicated to complementing the work of the School of Politics and Internal Relations and providing a social outlet for all politically-minded students at the University.
We provide a diverse range of activities, ranging from our annual trip to Westminster and our termly socials (including boat cruises, quizes, bar crawls, and even rounders games!) to last year's award-winning USA trip to Washington DC and New York, where we were had tours of the UN, Congress, the Pentagon and the Supreme Court.
This year we are carrying on the tradition with a new European trip to look forward to, visiting Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Brussels and Amsterdam for a week. We also host a range of speakers for our members, place some students on our community teaching project in Nottingham, organise Football, Netball and Rugby teams for our members to play other societies, and of course host our huge Annual Spring Ball at the end of the year.
And as if this wasn't enough, we have a great Politics committee who, on top of doing all this, work with the Politics Department to provide advice and support to all Politics students in our active welfare network.
