Current Research

Laura's PhD research monitors the implementation and arising impacts of recent legislation on the UK's response to tackling modern slavery and supporting survivors. By doing so, the research aims to explore the tangible effects of legislative changes on survivors, and explore the UK's continued role as a global leader in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking. This research aims to fill important evidence gaps of survivor support, experiences, and challenges, whilst also aiming to inform policy by recommending changes to the UK's national response and the NRM process.

In addition, Laura is currently assisting research on prevention and identification of children and young adults experiencing, or at risk of, modern slavery in the UK.

Past Research

Most recently Laura assisted on research funded by the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) entitled 'Nowhere to Hide: Turning Illicit Financial Flows Against Human Trafficking in the Philippines'. As part of this, Laura co-authored two reports addressing the use of digital payment methods in cases of online sexual exploitation of children in Europe and the Philippines.
