Biography

Manuel is a PhD student in Political Science whose main interests are political parties, elections, democratic performance and political institutions.

He holds a B.A. in Political Studies and Government (First class honours) from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico (2008-2012). As well as an M.A. in Public Policies from El Colegio de Jalisco, Mexico (2013-2015); the latter sponsored by the National Science Council (CONACyT) of Mexico.

Expertise Summary

Before coming to Nottingham, Manuel worked as a political advisor and research assistant for the International Affairs Office, the Vice-Chancellor's Office and the Academic Affairs Office at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Research Summary

His doctoral research focuses on the impact that presidential leadership and political alternation have on the institutional performance for the Latin American region.

Also, he is a member of the Research Centre for the Study of Parties and Democracy at the University of Nottingham.
