Current Research

I'm a systems neuroscientist who happens to use computational and statistical models rather than animal models to study the brain. Our research interrogates how the joint activity of many neurons encodes the past, present, and future in order to guide behaviour. To do this, we drive the development of widely-applicable data analysis techniques, and use them to analyse recordings of hundreds or thousands of neurons, recordings across different tasks, brain circuits, species, and phyla. And we develop theoretical and computational models for how this joint activity arises from neural circuits.
