Mechanical and Aerospace Systems Research Group

Research

We work on mechanical and aerospace systems across the energy and transport fields in the sub-disciplines of machine dynamics, materials behaviour, solid mechanics and Thermofluids.

We work collaboratively with partners to evaluate their technological challenges and design research programmes to deliver the tools and/or knowledge needed. We assess systems holistically to identify the best route to removing barriers to implementation, whether that is new physical data sets or modelling development.  Our research spans from TRL 1-6, blue sky fundamental to product development and de-risking.

The research group hosts the Rolls Royce University Technology Centre in Gas Turbines and Transmissions Systems.
