MBE award to Priority Group member for work on diversity and widening participation

Dr June McCombie, from the School of Chemistry, received royal recognition for her work on widening participation in the 2013 New Years Honours List

Dr McCombie, a tireless member of the STS PG’s Management Board, was awarded an MBE for her work on the Institute of Physics’ Widening Participation/Diversity programme and particularly her Chairmanship of the Juno project from 2008-2012.

The Juno Project rewards university Physics departments which address the underrepresentation of women in their employment. Dr McCombie has also been a member of the Institute of Physics Diversity and Inclusion Committee for over ten years.

Two more Nottingham scholars were recognised in this year’s Honours list. Professor John Britton received an CBE for his work in respiratory medicine and tobacco control and Professor Stephen Regel received an OBE for services to victims of trauma.
