It is with great pleasure that I welcome you the website for the School of Sociology and Social Policy and the Centre for Social Work. The site has been designed to provide easily accessible information about our School, including our staff and our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. The site also contains information about the School’s background and philosophy together with announcements about our forthcoming events and seminars.
As you will see, we are a diverse research-led School with expertise in sociology, cultural sociology, social and public policy, science and technology studies and social work. We are committed to world-class research that makes a meaningful contribution to knowledge in the social sciences and, where possible, has an impact by addressing questions of social justice and improving the quality of people’s lives. This is reflected by the work of our research institutes and groups and publications, which are described in detail within this site.
