Biography

I did my schooling from New Delhi, India before I came to the UK to for my Bachelors degree. I completed my BSc (hons.) in Biotechnology from The University of Nottingham and went on to do a PhD in Plant Sciences at the same University. I now work as a Senior Research Fellow at the Nottingham BBSRC Wheat Research Centre.

Expertise Summary

In the past I have worked extensively on genetic linkage mapping of wheat's wild relatives. I have also gained expertise in cytogenetic techniques such as Genomic in situ hybridisation (GISH) and Fluoresence in situ hybridisation (FISH). Currently, I am developing single nucleotide polymorphic (SNP) markers between wheat and its wild relatives that can be converted into KASP assays for genotyping of various introgressions lines being developed by us.

Teaching Summary

I am involved in conducting the practical classes based on Mendelian genetics for the first year undergraduate module Genes and Cells 1.
