Research Topic
Becoming-with Nature: A Re-evaluation of the Female Body in the Eco-Gothic.
Research Summary
Bryony's research is currently interested in investigating how the genre conventions of the Eco-Gothic form, particularly within the twenty-first century, can be used to evaluate presentations of the female body, and how the novel could enact a movement beyond a traditional duality of 'good' and 'bad' women and nature. This research takes the form of a novel and critical essay, wherein the novel will comprise of an exploration into whether these dualities can be eschewed within the Eco-Gothic, whilst the essay will consider whether or not this has been achieved in her novel and other contemporary literature from the same field.
