Biography
BA, MSc, PhD
My research interests lie in using a linguistic approach to examine perceptions surrounding social, cultural or political issues. In particular, I have been exploring health communications, human-animal relationships, animal ethics, and misinformation. My previous research has involved corpus linguistics, (critical) discourse analysis, health communications, history, human-animal studies, and the digital humanities.

Current Research
I am currently working on Avian influenza (AI) in the United Kingdom: Developing an interdisciplinary network to explore the knowledge, attitudes and practices of backyard poultry keepers with colleagues in the School of Geography and the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.
I am also working on the Menstrual Health discourses project with researchers from Lancaster University and Cardiff University and external partners Thrive Agency. We are exploring how (a) Generation-Z women, (b) Millennial women, and (c) UK health and lifestyle brands talk about menstrual health in the UK.
Past Research
I have recently worked on the AHRC/UKRI funded project Coronavirus Discourses: Linguistic Evidence for Effective Health Messaging (grant reference AH/V015125/1). You can read more about the project on our website and follow the @c19comms Twitter account for updates.
