Biography
I obtained an MMath from the University of Durham and completed my PhD in fluid dynamics at the University of Nottingham. Following this, I completed my PGCE in 2018, and subsequently went on to work in an independent secondary school in Nottingham for five years. During this time, I taught all age ranges but had a focus on teaching A-level Maths and A-level Further Maths. I really enjoyed teaching these courses and took great satisfaction from supporting the students develop their understanding of these more advanced topics. I found it particularly rewarding when students who could at times lack confidence in their abilities would grow in their resilience and take satisfaction out of completing questions. I was also responsible for providing support to students applying to Maths and Physics courses at Oxbridge - I enjoyed the challenge of this provided, which focused on holistic thinking and how to approach a problem.

Past Research
As a PhD student, I researched the dynamics of a fluid as it flowed through porous media. This was motivated by Carbon Capture and Storage, and used mathematical modelling to help understand the long-term behaviour of CO2 in underground aquifers after it was injected underground. This required the use of methods from fluid dynamics, asymptotic analysis and mathematical modelling, and helped gain insight into the storage capability and convective mixing patterns of the CO2.
