REF Results 2021
The School of Mathematical Sciences has increased from REF2014 in the percentage of both ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ research outputs. All of the impact case studies submitted were viewed as being ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’, also with an improvement of those classified as ‘outstanding’ from REF2014. The research environment is also recognised being at least ‘internationally excellent’, with an increase to 87.5% ‘world-leading’ compared to REF2014.
Our research activities are organised around sixteen Research Themes, spanning Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Probability, and Teaching and Learning in Mathematics Higher Education. Applications for research degrees and fellowships are welcome in all of our Research Themes.
