Biography
Li, also known as Jennifer, obtained her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from China Pharmaceutical University (2013-2017).
She continued her education, earning a Master's degree in Pharmacy from the Key Lab of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics at China Pharmaceutical University (2017-2020). Her thesis focused on applying metabolomics and lipidomics analysis to reveal the protective mechanism of Magnesium Isoglycyrrhizinate on PA-induced HepaRG cell lipotoxicity.
In September 2020, she commenced her PhD at the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham, under the supervision of Zheying Zhu, David Scurr, and Morgan Alexander. Her PhD project centered on investigating the impact of the Alzheimer's disease risk gene, ApoE4, on the metabolomics and proteomics of H4 neuroglioma cells, utilizing OrbiSIMS and LC-MS/MS.
Since January 2024, Jennifer has served as a research associate in the Nottingham SIMS Facility team at the School of Pharmacy. In this role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of two state-of-the-art secondary ion mass spectrometers (ToF-SIMS V and 3D HybridSIMS (IONTOF GmbH)) instruments.

Current Research
Jennifer's primary role as a research associate in the SIMS Facility team is to support surface chemical analysis research within the School of Pharmacy and other departments at the University of Nottingham. She is responsible for ToF-SIMS V and 3D HybridSIMS (IONTOF GmbH) instruments, including facilitating access to the SIMS instruments, providing training for users, and offering consultations on various aspects of experimental design, data acquisition/analysis, and reporting.
Additionally, apart from supporting research in the SIMS facility, Jen is interested in the application of SIMS equipment in neurodegenerative diseases.
