Research Fellow, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
I am a Research Fellow in Glycobiology and Regenerative Medicine working in the joined network Glycoweb. I am a member of the Merry's Lab at the School of Medicine and based in the Biodiscovery institute 3.
I have done my PhD in skeletal muscle tissue engineering at the university of Padua and have come to the UK to work on cartilage (QMUL) and, more recently, pancreas regeneration (KCL). My interest and expertise have developed around tissue repair and regeneration both macroscopically and microscopically, with the aim of understanding and harnessing cellular processes at a molecular level in order to better in vitro models and therapeutic approaches.

At the Glycoweb network, our aim is to bridge the knowledge gap between glycosaminoglycans genetic encoding and the post translational modifications that gives us the existing fascinating high variability and diversity of these proteins.
Understading how Glysominoglycans final product is created, will open to a plethora of possibilities, including tailored matrix products, understanding GAG related disease phenotypes and develop targeted therapeutical approaches in turn.
