Biophysical Analyst, Faculty of Science
Having attained a BSc in Biochemistry (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology), from the University of Nairobi in Kenya (December 2007), Marion enrolled for MSc Biotechnology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) where she graduated with a distinction (November 2009). There also, she obtained her PhD in Chemistry (June 2014) working in the Biomolecular and Materials Interface Research Group led by Professor Carole C. Perry. Her studies were focused on obtaining a molecular level understanding of the fundamental principles that govern interactions that take place at abiotic-biotic interfaces. In particular the study of interaction mechanisms of peptides and inorganic nano-/micro-particles. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the same research group from March 2014 to April 2016. Her research interests are focused towards probing the relationship between material/biomolecule structure and function and the extension of governing principles to the advancement of a broad spectrum of applications in biotechnology, materials chemistry, biomedical engineering and product development. She has a particular interest in biophysical techniques such as Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) and Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM-D) for the detection and quantification of abiotic-biotic interactions.
Marion is now working as a Biophysical Analyst within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham to support the commercial, industrial and research operations of the School of Pharmacy relating to the field of biophysical analysis. She works as part of the Interface and Surface Analysis Centre (ISAC) and the Molecular Therapeutics and Formulation (MTF) research division.
