Know your funding
There are two types of scholarships available – a full award and a fees-only award.
A full award covers your tuition fees plus an annual stipend for the duration of your programme. A stipend is a tax-free contribution towards your living expenses. The minimum amount you will receive in the 2019/20 academic year is £15,009.
As the name suggests, a fees-only award solely covers the cost of your tuition fees, not any living expenses.
Students with UK citizenship are eligible for the full award.
EU students who have lived, worked or studied in the UK for three years prior to application are eligible for the full award. There are also a limited number of places available covering both fees and stipend for EU students who have not previously been resident in the UK for three years.
EU students who are not eligible for a full scholarship can still receive funding that covers their tuition fees.
International students cannot receive funding for this doctoral training programme.
