Description
Mohamed Khan received his BS from the University of Guyana, MS from University of Bath, and Ph.D from Clemson University. He has taught at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Guyana and the USA. He has experiences in managing the coconut and oil palm industry in Guyana, and over the past two decades was responsible for conducting transformational education for sugar beet growers in North Dakota and Minnesota, USA. The adoption of research based recommendations have contributed to a 50% increase in sugar beet yield and a 23% reduction in acreage to the sugar beet industry responsible for over $5 billion of total economic activities. Mohamed will share the story of sugar beet growers adopting herbicide tolerant sugar beet to overcome weed issues and using multi-site fungicides to complement site specific fungicide to manage Cercospora leaf spot which is the most damaging foliar disease of sugar beet.
