Unlocking organisational challenges with the launch of Ingenuity Online
Nottingham University Business School launches Ingenuity Online to unlock organisational challenges
Nottingham University Business School is proud to announce the launch of Ingenuity Online, an innovative, online version of the Ingenuity Process. Developed in partnership with Cloud Enterprise, Ingenuity Online is designed to help organisations tackle complex challenges by unlocking new, non-obvious ideas and solutions, to drive transformation across sectors globally.
Since its inception, the Ingenuity Process has supported organisations to solve problems by approaching them from fresh perspectives. Now, the process is available online for the first time, expanding its reach and making it more accessible to businesses and teams worldwide.
Professor Simon Mosey, creator of the Ingenuity Process said:
We’ve always known that the most innovative ideas come from thinking differently about the problems at hand. Moving the process online allows people to generate ideas in a more open, democratic space where they can contribute freely without fear of judgment. This helps break down barriers, encouraging creative solutions that wouldn’t emerge in conventional group settings.”
The key distinction between the Ingenuity Process and Ingenuity Online lies in the method of idea generation. While the Ingenuity Process involves guided, in-person sessions, Ingenuity Online allows individuals and teams to participate remotely, ensuring inclusivity and the ability to tap into a broader pool of ideas. The platform helps organisations identify their challenges' root causes, generate potential solutions, and select the most effective course of action.
Real-World Impact and Applications
Several organisations have already used the Ingenuity Process and are now integrating Ingenuity Online into their strategic initiatives. The NHS has employed the process to address mental health care delivery, finding that online support methods were effective and opened new possibilities for reaching clients who wouldn’t have engaged with traditional face-to-face therapy. Likewise, businesses such as Mitsubishi Chemical and Nottingham College have leveraged Ingenuity Online to refine their strategies, from improving communication across departments to encouraging collaboration between academia and industry.
The impact on sustainability challenges is also significant. Professor Mosey explained: “We help organisations rethink their decisions about innovation and sustainability. By starting with a deep analysis of existing practices, businesses can improve their sustainability efforts while integrating new technologies, like AI and energy storage, more effectively.”
Supporting Executive Education and Strategy
The launch of Ingenuity Online is aligned with the strategic goals of the university’s Executive Education programme. Nick Proverbs, Senior Operations Manager for Executive Education at the Business School, said:
Ingenuity Online is a powerful tool that allows organisations to address key challenges in a structured yet flexible way. It enables diverse teams to collaborate and generate ideas that would have been difficult to produce in traditional settings. Whether organisations are looking to tackle short-term or long-term challenges, the process ensures that the right problems are addressed, and the optimal solutions are found.”
Ingenuity Online also plays a vital role in advancing the Business School's overall strategy to enhance external engagement. It offers a unique opportunity to connect organisations globally and fosters cross-sector collaborations, making it an invaluable resource for businesses looking to innovate and grow in today’s fast-paced world.
