I started my position as an Assistant Professor in Global Business Operations at Nottingham University Business School in August 2018.

I hold a PhD in Global Business, an MBA (Supply Chain Management), and an Engineering degree, complemented by several years of corporate experience in the automotive, manufacturing, and energy sectors. I strongly believe in the value of multidisciplinary research and am committed to making a meaningful impact beyond academia.

At the heart of my research is a simple but powerful question: “So what?”
For me, this question is a constant reminder to look beyond theory and ensure my work truly matters, that it tackles real challenges, connects with the people who can use it, and contributes to meaningful change. It’s about asking not just what we know, but why it matters and who it helps.

My current work sits at the intersection of sustainability, global operations, and systems thinking, as featured in the Research & Knowledge Exchange section.

Nahid Yazdani's research lies at the intersection of sustainability, systems thinking, and global operations, with a particular focus on enabling systemic change for net-zero and energy transitions.

- Systemic Change for Net-Zero & New Energy Transitions
Nahid's work explores how stakeholder interests, interactions, and perceptions shape the success of socio-technical transitions. She investigates the development of emerging ecosystems, such as hydrogen supply chains and "Hydrogen Valleys" by mapping the interdependencies across technological, societal, and policy domains.

She applies Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) and systems thinking methodologies to understand the dynamics of stakeholder influence in complex systems, including the decarbonisation of airports (e.g., the East Midlands Airport Green Future Study). Her research supports the design of participatory processes that help accelerate just and effective energy transitions.

- International Business, Export Strategy & Firm Performance
In parallel, Nahid continues to explore the internationalisation strategies of firms. Her research has examined export operation modes, global distribution channel selection, and the impact of CEO characteristics on R&D investment and corporate social innovation. This work contributes to understanding how firms navigate global markets and align strategic decision-making with sustainable performance.

This strand of research is closely linked to Nahid's involvement in the global consortium "Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century", which brings together researchers from 17 countries. Within this consortium, she has been actively involved in the study's design and implementation and has led specific aspects focused on building a primary dataset on firms' export activities through the survey method.
