I work with a wide range of learners from the business school and beyond. My approach to learning and teaching applies theory to practice. Working with learners, we generate insights characterised by academic rigour and practical relevance. In the business school my learning and teaching practice reflects wide-ranging experiences across Undergraduate, Masters, MBA and Doctoral cohorts.
I also have a keen interest in professional development for SME leaders, executives and future business leaders. I am currently developing a programme for high growth businesses in the region.
The different aspects of my work align with UN SDG 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

My research centres on the field of Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, in which my interests have developed along two paths. My recent work has examined the role and effectiveness of government support for entrepreneurs and small businesses. I am especially interested in questions of how policies and practices have developed over time and how they function today.
My work on the wider context in which small businesses and entrepreneurs operate is complemented by my research exploring the intricacies of management within small businesses. I have a particular interest in questions of employment relationships in small businesses.
