Prior to this appointment, Rani taught at UNNC and other universities in the UK and Australia for the past 15 years. Before joining academia, she worked as a HR trainee and officer in private organisations in Australia and Mauritius. She is a member of the CIPD and a Senior FHEA.

She was received a teaching award from NUBS for her excellent teaching on the Strategic HRM module as MSc level in 2019.

Rani was awarded the Griffith University Business School Outstanding International Alumnus Award for the year 2020.

Her areas of research include burnout and organizational outcomes, work family conflict/balance,social support in organizations, work-family conflict, International HRM and cross cultural management.

She obtained a Santander Research Mobility Grant in 2014-2015 for a research on work life balance and work attitudes of employees in the healthcare. Her paper received the best paper award in the Organisational Psychology stream at the BAM Conference in 2009.
