Dr. Tarek Metwally is an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the University of Nottingham. Previously, he held the position of Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and, prior to that, was a Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield. His research focuses on corporate governance, particularly in areas such as board diversity, faultlines, and the influence of cultural differences on board decision-making. He also has a strong interest in firm valuation, sustainable accounting, corporate reporting, and accounting conservatism. His research has been published in top journals such as the British Journal of Management.

Dr. Metwally has over 15 years of teaching experience, including teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and MBA levels. He is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA) and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE).
Dr. Metwally's research centres on corporate governance, with particular emphasis on board diversity, faultlines, and the influence of cultural differences on board decision-making. Additionally, he has a keen interest in firm valuation, sustainable accounting, corporate reporting, and accounting conservatism. His work has been presented at several national and international conferences, and he serves as an ad hoc reviewer for various peer-reviewed academic journals, such as:
