Dr Wafaa Ahmed is an assistant professor in information systems in the department of Operations Management and Information Systems, Nottingham University Business School, United Kingdom. Wafaa has a PhD in Business and Management, a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Wafaa has several years of industry experience in the food sector. Her current research interests include blockchain technology applications and implications, digital transformation, supply chain information systems, supply chain sustainability and performance.

I teach in both the areas of operations management and information systems for undergraduate, master's and MBA modules.
My research investigates the drivers, requirements and inhibitors for blockchain applications in the supply chain based on empirical evidence. My research interests include analysing and measuring the value driven by blockchain implementation, particularly in improving supply chain performance and sustainability. I'm also looking at the potential of blockchain technology applications in different contexts, including modern slavery and other sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, mining, tourism and charity.
