Rohit Manderwal - Full-time MBA 2024
After a career in the military, pursuing an MBA at Nottingham University Business School felt like the natural next step for Rohit Manderwal. The programme enabled him to develop the commercial, financial, and managerial skills needed to succeed in the corporate sector.
Rohit chose the Business School for its strong academic reputation and student experience. He explained:
“I liked the modules on offer, the university’s high rankings, and Nottingham being a student-friendly city. My favourite module was Business Economics, which expanded my horizon on the core economics of the businesses - the how, and the why.”
As part of the Career Accelerator Programme, Rohit also completed a management project exploring corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a strategic tool for business growth, under the supervision of Professor Ashley Pinnington. He commented:
“My experience was fantastic. Professor Pinnington guided me at every stage. His suggestions and ideas were invaluable, and he gave me his undivided attention with weekly consultations.”
The MBA prepared Rohit well for his next step. He said:
"I secured a role with Amazon in June 2024, four months before the course ended. Amazon hired me as Operations Manager and has sponsored me for five years."
Reflecting on his time at Nottingham, Rohit highlighted both the people and the place. He added: “The MBA professors were very knowledgeable, and of course I loved the Jubilee Campus.”
His advice for prospective students is practical:
The University of Nottingham has lots of resources to offer - use them. For example, if you’re interested in investment banking, make the most of the Bloomberg Terminal and take advantage of Microsoft certifications. Don’t wait until the end of the course to apply for jobs, start around March. And don’t apply to thousands of roles, carefully pick two or three that align with your career background and focus your efforts.
