Thejeshwar Karthikeyan - MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management 2024
Thejeshwar studied an MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2024. He now works as an Operations and Logistics Intern for Amazon, based in the UK.
Reflecting on his decision to complete his master’s degree at the University of Nottingham, Thejeshwar explained: "I chose to study at the University of Nottingham as it has a strong reputation and a curriculum relevant to the modern industry. The course supported theoretical knowledge with real-world application of concepts such as optimising processes and analysing data-driven decisions. The opportunities on offer to me by the university and the knowledge I gained from my degree have been vital to my role and future career prospects."
One highlight was the chance to gain practical, hands-on experience. Thejeshwar shared: "The curriculum not only played an important role in shaping my career path but also gave me hands-on industry exposure through the business project. I was selected to be part of a business project with Haleon, where I gained hands-on experience in market research, consumer insights and product design.”
Support from the university also shaped Thejeshwar’s career journey.
He reflected on his experience:
The university’s Careers Service and its networking events helped me secure valuable opportunities, including my current internship. Knowledge gained from my master's has been essential in my role. Understanding stock flow and storage optimisation, as well as using data-driven insights to identify inefficiencies and improve operational workflows, are valuable skills that I use regularly.
Balancing study with other commitments with study was an important part of his experience. He recalled: “As an International Student Ambassador and a part-time General Assistant at the Nottingham City Hospital, I had to manage my time effectively while ensuring I kept up with coursework and deadlines.”
Thejeshwar’s advice to new students is very practical and encouraging, he advised:
Make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. The university offers many opportunities and resources to help you excel and improve your skills beyond the classroom. Take part in extracurricular activities organised by the university and have fun. It’s also a good way to expand your network, and networking can help you much more than you think with career aspirations.
