A dedicated research environment, bringing together staff and students at all stages of their careers to benefit from a dynamic interdisciplinary structure that enables the next generation of breakthroughs in cancer science.
The Centre for Cancer Sciences (CCS) will deliver a pioneering model of synergistic cancer training and research throughout the career trajectory. It will directly contribute to school, faculty and University strategic objectives by establishing the infrastructure and resources required to fufil our key aims.
Key aims
- Build a centre for Nottingham’s experts in cancer research within a coherent team based structure. This will include common laboratories, research equipment and facilities, and interdisciplinary and international training. All in a new facility in the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences Expansion (CBSE), expected to be completed in September 2019
- Launch new BSc and MSci undergraduate degrees in Cancer Sciences in Spetember 2019. These courses will be internationally supported and research intensive.
- Develop cohesive research and teaching, focused on Nottingham’s key cancer research strengths, fully aligned to the research strategy
- Enhance the critical research mass and depth of excellence required to become a UK Centre of Excellence in Cancer Research, through sequential and targeted project, program and centre funding
