Biography
Dr Claire Seedhouse is an Associate Professor within the Division of Cancer and Stem Cells, in the School of Medicine, at the University of Nottingham
Claire studied for a BSc (Hons) at Bath University which included two industrial placements (1995). She did her PhD at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, Manchester where she developed an interest in DNA damage and repair (1999). After completing several post-doctoral research positions and a fellowship at the University of Nottingham she was appointed as the Skillington Haematology Lecturer in 2009. She has published more than 40 papers (h index 24) and receives external, and local, peer-reviewed funding for her research.

Research Summary
Claire's research focuses on mechanisms of drug action and resistance in haematological malignancies, including acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), multiple myeloma and lymphoma.
Current research projects include:
- Targeting Bcl2 family members in AML and myeloma
- NPM as a therapeutic target in AML
- Targeting dormant cells in leukaemia
- Response of AML and myeloma cells to novel therapeutic drugs
Research is funded by peer-reviewed grants from national and local charities and industrial support. The group is comprised of laboratory scientists and has strong links with clinicians and clinical scientists and has a solid publication track record in high-quality peer-reviewed journals with a number of highly cited (>100 citations) papers.
