Title: Investigating the Effects and Determinants of Salience in Coordination Games

Abstract: Coordination games are essential in economics, particularly in the study of social interaction. Existing literature suggests that payoff singularities and strategy‐label salience are two major coordination devices. We experimentally examine whether and how different payoff singularities, the visibility and alignment of individual label salience, and their interaction affect coordination. We find evidence supporting all of these effects, as well as several determinants of individuals’ tendencies to rely on different sources of salience.
