Congratulations to Dr. Christopher Phelps, awarded an honorable mention in prestigious LGBT history competition

Cited by the American Historical Association's Audre Lorde Prize for the best article on LGBT history published in the past two years

The Committee on LGBT History announced the winners this past weekend at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association. Dr. Phelps' article is titled “The Closet in the Party: The Young Socialist Alliance, the Socialist Workers Party, and Homosexuality, 1962-1970” and was published in Labor: Studies in Working-Class History of the Americas. He is American Studies associate professor and an associate with the Centre for Research in Race and Rights associate. The prize is for an outstanding article on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, and/or queer history published in English. You can read more about the awards.
