We are the largest American and Canadian Studies department in Europe and pursue an ambitious research strategy in the field of North American literature, history, culture and politics.

The Department of American & Canadian Studies at Nottingham is delighted that 96% of its research activity was assessed as 'world-leading' and 'internationally excellent' according to the results of the REF2021 (Research Excellence Framework).
