Congratulations to Gary Mills, Associate Professor of History Education, who has been appointed President of the History Teachers' Education Network (HTEN).
The HTEN supports the work of history educators, mainly in Initial Teacher Education roles. Gary says "I am thrilled to have been asked and am looking forward to working with, and supporting, the community of history educators".
Gary moved from secondary teaching to the university and for many years led the Secondary PGCE History course. He research focusses on the teaching of the Holocaust and other genocides and he is a member of the Centre for International Education Research. He has worked with many internal scholars and is also Chair of the Academic Advisory Board and Education Advisor at The National Holocaust Centre and Museum.
Gary's first role will be to give an augural lecture: Visualisation in history education: Thoughts, perspectives and challenges.
