The UNESCO Chair has published a new report focussing on their work over the last two years. As well as including general information about the chair, its mission, mandate and priorities, the report has reflections from Chair Committee members, key milestones and project information.

A new whitepaper was published on 19 May 2025 at the Education World Forum in London which focusses on universities in the Global South, presenting instances of exemplary best practice and opportunities for collaborative partnership development. It includes case studies on effective collaboration with the Global South from the University of Nottingham and University of Reading.
Professor Juliet Thondhlana and Dr Alicia Bowman, with Professor Evelyn Garwe from the University of Morocco, contributed a case study based on the partnership between the University of Nottingham and Association of African Universities and their writing workshop and mentorship programme which is funded by British Academy.

From 18 to 21 March 2025, Professor Juliet Thondhlana, Dr Alicia Bowman and Dr Tingting Yuan, School of Education members of the UNESCO Chair Network in International Education and Development, visited Ghana to strengthen the research and knowledge exchange partnership between the University of Nottingham and the Association of African Universities (AAU).

UNESCO Chairs joined a check-in meeting on 26 February. Dr Juliet Thondhlana attended as UNESCO Chair in International Development and Education, based at the University of Nottingham.

This recently published book from Emeritus Professor W John Morgan, has been nominated for the 2025 Wayne S. Vucinich Book Prize in the United States.
Established in 1983, the prize sponsored by the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEES) and Stanford University, is awarded annually for the most important contribution to the field in any discipline of the humanities or social sciences published in English in the United States in the previous calendar year. The prize carries a cash award and is presented at the annual ASEES convention which will take place in November.
This is a survey deployed by AAU in collaboration with its Europe Regional Office at the University of Nottingham, and other higher education partners. The primary purpose of this survey is to understand the research management landscape in African universities, with a view to enhancing the effectiveness of research units within institutions through insights gathered from higher education and research institutions in Africa.
