Dr Luke J. Prendergast is Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at University of Nottingham, UK. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, 2016-2018. Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, 2015-2016.
Luke obtained his PhD at University College Dublin in 2015 and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from University College Cork (UCC), Ireland (2011).
Luke is an Assistant Editor at the Journal of Sound and Vibration (JSV) since January 2018.
Research interests include Structural Health Monitoring, Vibration-Based Bridge Scour Monitoring, Offshore Engineering, Structural Dynamics and Geotechnical Engineering.

Luke has conducted research into vibration-based bridge scour detection, estimating soil stiffness for small-strain dynamic applications and offshore monopile engineering
Luke is interested in investigating long term cyclic behavior of offshore foundations for wind turbines, particularly how cyclic degradation in soil stiffness may affect the structure's dynamic response.
