Current Research

I have a number of research and management roles with the Human Factors Research Group (HFRG) and the Faculty of Engineering. A researcher since 1993, I have been involved in understanding user needs and evaluation of interactive technologies, in particular virtual reality and virtual environments, for a number of industrial and educational applications. As such, I am now the Secretary of the European Association for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (http://www.eurovr-association.org/).

As the HFRG Director of European Research, I have been active in over 25 European Projects since 2000 as a coordinator, project manager, workpackage leader and task leader. Currently I am the Quality Manager of the H2020 EU project 3D-Tune-In (3D games for tuning and learning about hearing aids) (644051) and H2020 EU project PASSME (Personalised Airport Systems for Seamless Mobility and Experience) (636308). In addition, I support the management of our other current EU projects: CloudFlow (NMP-ICT-FOF-609100), Use-It-Wisely (NMP-FOF-609027), PEGASO (ICT-610727), iMars (SEP-210075641), PROSPECT (H2020 634149) and IT2RAIL (H2020 636078).

I am also a Research Development Manager for the Faculty of Engineering, responsible for providing advice, guidance and strategic support for European Funding.

Past Research

A researcher since 1993 I was involved in several research and consultancy work with industries including: Ford Motors, British Aerospace and British Nuclear Fuels Laboratory (BNFL).

Since 2000 I have been active in European projects as follows:

Future Research

I am actively pursuing projects related to the human factors implications of interactive technologies, as well as expanding the capabilities and opportunities for HFRG in a number of domains. I am also involved in developing the strategy for the Faculty of Engineering within the framework of Horizon 2020 in areas related to ICT, Transport, Health & Rehabilitation and Manufacturing.
