Description

The School of English invites you to come along to the University May Fest on Saturday 19 May 2012.

We are running a range of activities, all based at or starting from our stand in the Portland Building.

On the day, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors can take part in the School of English Treasure Hunt. They can also get involved with the following, at any time:

  • Language games and activity sheets
  • Working with manuscripts and exploring medieval manuscripts online
  • Chatting to students and staff about our work in the School of English

We have lots of timetabled activities, too:

11:00am – 1:15pm: Wondering about the origin of a name? Come and ask our expert, Rebecca Gregor, from the Institute for Name-Studies.

11:30am: Storytelling Workshop with Clare Wright & Natalie Jones, 40 minutes, ages 6 and above.

1:15pm – 5:30pm: Medieval craft activities: create your own manuscript, or design your own coat of arms.

1:30pm: Creative Writing Workshop with Louise Chamberlain, 40 minutes, ages 6 and above.

3:15pm: Performance Workshop with Sarah Grandage, 40 minutes, ages 6 and above.
