Dr Phil Dixon will give this years Maurice Barley Memorial Lecture. The lecture, entitled “Maurice Barley and the study of medieval buildings”, will be followed by a drinks reception.

The late Maurice Barley was the first professor of Archaeology at The University of Nottingham, a pioneer of buildings archaeology, in which the University maintains a strong and vibrant tradition, and one of the founders of York Archaeological Trust. Dr Philip Dixon, himself a very distinguished buildings archaeologist specialising in castles and cathedrals, taught for many years in the Department of Archaeology.

This event is free of charge and is open to all.
