Explore Caistor Roman Town - Real and Virtual

14 July 2019, 14:00-17:00

Caistor Roman Town and St. Edmund's Church, Stoke Road, Caistor St Edmund, NR14 8QN

On Sunday 14th July come and explore Caistor Roman Town and see how the town's forum looked in the Roman period. This event is part of this year's Festival of Archaeology

Take a tour with a guide from the Norfolk Archaeological Trust who will explain the history of Norfolk's Roman capital (leaving the car-park at 2.30). Members of Caistor Roman Project and staff from the University of Nottingham will also be in St Edmund's church from 2.00-5.00 pm to demonstrate the virtual model of Caistor's Roman forum, allowing you to wander through the forum with the help of 21st-century technology. St Edmund's church will also be serving cream teas!

You can also download the Virtual Venta app (created by the University of Nottingham and Jam Creative Studios with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council) allowing you to use your phone to explore the forum and even meet its occupants. University of Nottingham staff will be at the forum site (in the middle of Caistor Roman Town) to demonstrate the app (which can be found on the Apple store amd Google Play). Please note that the app will only run on quite new phones (iPhone 6 and above or Android equivalent).
