Description

This workshop takes place on-site at Newstead Abbey and is run by Dr Sam Hirst and Simon Brown, collections curator at Newstead Abbey. The workshop will include a house tour with a collections focus and a case study based on Dr Sam Hirst's work on LGBTQIA+ history and Bryon in the literary house setting.

The workshop will focus on the practicalities of working with a literary house, their curated collections, and making and creating visual and audio-visual display elements. At the end of the workshop, there will be the opportunity to explore a selection of the Newstead collection and submit a proposal for a mini-archival projects on site at Newstead Abbey as part of the programme marking the bicentenary of Byron's death. Full details of this project and how to apply for the limited number of opportunities will be provided at the workshop.
