The anniversary of World War I has brought a focus on Central and Eastern Europe, in particular the former Habsburg lands. This conference organised by Jonathan Kwan (The University of Nottingham) aims to bring together scholars working on the history of Central and Eastern Europe in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It will be structured around World War I in order to provide an opportunity to reflect on the pre-war conditions, the course of the war and its consequences.
