Dr Rob Lambert provides live commentary on BBC Springwatch Extra 2016

The University of Nottingham environmental historian and ecotourism academic, Dr Rob Lambert, continued his connection to the hugely successful and popular BBC Springwatch brand, by doing live commentary for BBC Springwatch Extra (Red Button, twitter and online service) in two half-hour timeslots on 15 June 2016.

Dr Lambert joined The University of Nottingham Special Professor, and former BBC NHU Series Producer, Stephen Moss, in the outside broadcast truck at Minsmere RSPB reserve in Suffolk, the home of BBC Springwatch over the past three years. The conversation focused on the wildlife action from live feeds from 28 cameras around the site, contextualised with broader historical and cultural nature-people observations: the rise of wildlife-watching in Britain; how we value nature; the history of nature conservation; new networks for nature in the twenty-first century. The BBC Springwatch twitter feed has 166,000 followers, and this year’s launch main show was watched by 2.6m on BBC2.
