Description

We're in this together!

TeachFest returns on Friday 5th July 2024

Please join us for this very informal and friendly opportunity to talk about all things teaching: we invite people to share something of their own practice, discuss what other people have been trying, reflect together on how we might develop the teaching and learning experience at UoN (and beyond), and mull over ideas with supportive colleagues.

The broad theme - "We're in this together" - will pick up from the Teaching and Learning Conference theme, ‘Thinking Higher’, with a particular focus on how we can work together, among colleagues and with our students, to mould our teaching for the future, with all the opportunities and challenges we’re likely to face over the next few years.

TeachFest provides a great context for trying out ideas or having a first go at presenting ‘a paper’ for a teaching-focused conference, as well as an opportunity for experienced 'presenters' to share ideas with an especially friendly audience! We would be delighted to consider proposals from those who have done little or no teaching so far, through to those who’ve been teaching for many years, as well as from colleagues who support teaching in various ways.

We are looking for proposals for the following:

· Papers - It is anticipated that papers/presentations will be around 20 minutes with a few minutes for questions, and they could be presented by individuals or groups.

· Workshops - We usually also have workshops, which could be around 25 minutes or around 50 minutes.

· Guided discussions - These are another regular feature: they will probably last for 50 minutes.

· Other - We are open to suggestions for other kinds of contributions and will come up with a workable schedule to accommodate those proposals we accept. Examples might include, but are certainly not limited to, PechaKucha, 5-minute 'elevator pitches' or lightning talks, poster presentations etc.

Proposals can be submitted here by Friday 31st May.
