Café ideas

Cafe Ideas 1000 x 666

Café Ideas is an event organised by ICEMiC. It is a platform for the PGR students, postdoc researchers and staff members of the School of Sociology and Social Policy to share their own academic ideas about a future publication or project and receive friendly comments from peers.

Café Ideas is an event similar to café philosophique and café scientifique, but in an academic environment and with more restrictions in terms of time for each presentation. The goal is to collectively brainstorm about an emerging idea that will turn into academic research of a colleague.

The rules of Café Ideas

  1. There will be five presentations.
  2. Each presentation should be about an idea for a future research project, a proposal that hasn’t been submitted yet, a paper that hasn’t been written completely or a monograph that you think you want to write in the near future.
  3. Each presentation wouldn’t take more than 3 minutes.
  4. Each presentation should include no more than 2 PowerPoint slides.
  5. Each presentation will be followed by five minutes of critical (still supportive) examination by the other participants in the Café.

If you’re interested in presenting your ideas in the next Café, please email the title of your research to ICEMiC Director: Dr Morteza Hashemi at Morteza.Hashemi@Nottingham.ac.uk
