About Learning Technologies

The Learning Technologies Section is part of the University of Nottingham Libraries department and our goal is to support the digital learning ambitions of the University. We work closely with senior leaders to understand and help shape the strategic direction for digital learning and to tailor the engagement and support that we offer to meet the needs of the University. We are a friendly and approachable Section who work in a collaborative and open way.

We have several teams within the Section:

Faculty and School Support Team

This is the team where your role will be based. The team are a front line team of Learning Technology consultants who work closely with academic colleagues and students to help embed the use of digital learning tools and online pedagogy across the university.

Learning Systems Team

This is our technical team that develops, tests and deploys a range of Learning Technologies. This includes Moodle (our VLE) and Rogo (our e-assessment system). We create and deploy our own software as well as build upon third party open source software. The team also has a business analyst to ensure that we can deliver on the full life cycle of development.

Learning Content Team

The Learning Content team provides a range of support for digital learning content. This includes a fully-featured video production service in support of teaching and learning activity. The team also provide consultancy support in the use of a wide range of digital learning content, and work across a wide range of multimedia to develop engaging and effective content to support teaching and learning at the University.

MOOCs and NOOCs

The University has delivered Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the FutureLearn Platform since 2013. This team supports that work by providing consultancy support around course design and delivery. The team also manages the Nottingham Open Online Courses (NOOCs) programme which delivers a range of online courses to students across all of our UK and International Campuses.
