About Research and Innovation

Research and Innovation was created by the merger of Business Engagement and Innovation Services and Research and Graduate Services.  The R&I team provide expertise and guidance across the full spectrum of the University’s services for business.

Research and Innovation is part of the Finance and Infrastructure Directorate and sits under the Chief Financial Officer, Margaret Monckton.  Research and Innovation has seven units, including:

  • The Asia Business Centre
  • Business and Local Partnerships
  • Corporate Partnerships
  • The Graduate School
  • IP Commercialisation
  • Research Business Development
  • Research Operations

Each unit has its own team, as the Director of Research and Innovation you will line manage the Head of each unit, and provides strategic leadership for the entire directorate. You will be the interface between business, academia, government, funding bodies and students, establishing strong relationships and support networks across the University and the wider sector.

You will be supporting the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) in the development and delivery of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategies.
